Astoria

A middle-class and commercial neighborhood, Astoria has a population of 78,793 residents. Located in the northwestern corner of Queens borough, it was originally known as Hallett's Cove and later renamed to Astoria in order to attract John Jacob Astor, the wealthiest man at the time.

Bayside

Bayside is an upper middle class neighborhood located in Queens. It is ranked as one of the most expensive housing markets nationally, with a population density of 44,100 residents. Bayside was founded some time around the middle of the 18th century by settlers from Flushing who wanted to start a farming community.

Beechhurst

A favorite vacation area for the rich and famous during the silent movie era, Beechhurst is a neighborhood in the northeastern section of Queens. Home of the Beechhurst Towers hotel, a favorite of actress Mary Pickford as well as many Broadway and early movie stars, including the Marx Brothers and W.C. Fields.

College Point

Considered a working-middle-class neighborhood, College Point is located in the Queens borough. With a total population of nearly 25.000 residents, College Point is a diverse community, mostly residential with some industrial areas, eventually becoming a center for breweries and day trip resorts.

Flushing

Flushing is a neighborhood in the borough of Queens, NYC. Flushing is considered the fourth largest central business district in New York City, specifically Downtown Flushing, even though most of the neighborhood is residential. It has a whopping population of 72,008 residents.

Fresh Meadows

Fresh Meadows is a residential neighborhood located in the northeastern section of Queens. The name "Fresh Meadows" dates back to before the American Revolution, and was originally a part of the Town of Flushing and later became Fresh Meadows due to the plentiful freshwater springs that surround the area.

Jackson Heights

Jackson Heights, a neighborhood in the northwestern portion of Queens, with a population of approximately 108,152 residents. It covers an area of 1,101.36 acres and it was known as "Trains Meadow" back in 1916, even though there were very few trains in the area.

Little Neck

An upper middle class neighborhood in Queens, NY, Little Neck is considered to be the most suburban looking area in NYC. Due to it's conveniently located harbor, it was quickly populated by european settlers and developed mainly into a large fishing community.

Long Island City

Located in the westernmost part of Queens, Long Island City, commonly abbreviated to L.I.C., is a fast growing community with impressive residential growth, gentrification, but also development of parks and ambitious art projects and artists.
